VTCT-Vocational Training Charitable Trust

The VTCT level 2 certificate in Hairdressing service (QCF) is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop the student’s basic skills in hairdressing services; including dressing hair, shampoo and conditioning, client consultation, creating an image in the hair and beauty sector, health and safety as well as looking closely at the hair industry and future career pathways.

The students have a minimum of 31 credits to gain a pass grade. 25 credits are from mandatory units where then they can each choose from a range of optional units.
Students will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence as well :

  • completing practical assessments- observation or students skills ( these take place in our school salon by our qualified assessors and internal verifiers)
  • Completing question papers (multiple choice) 70 % pass rate must be achieved.
  • Assignments, oral questioning and case studies

All work is externally assessed twice yearly by a VTCT external verifier.

Progression- When you have successfully completed this qualification you will have the opportunity to progress onto:

  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing.
  • Level 2 NVQ diploma in Hairdressing ( combined hair types )
  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Barbering.

These could also lead towards a further qualification in the beauty industry.

We have excellent links with local colleges and Hairdressing and beauty training providers plus many local salons where students can gain apprenticeships.
